Chocolate Recipes
Too often we tell our children to stay out of the kitchen. It is too dangerous, this is too hot, you'll hurt yourself. Actually one of the best ways to get your achild acquainted with the kitchen is to let them do some of their own things there. Letting your child make something for the family in the kitchen will help build their self-esteem and will actually show them why it is that you have to tell them sometimes to stay out. Find a few chocolate recipes that your children can make on their own with only supervision or limited help.
Chocolate recipes are a great way to start as most children get very excited at the mere mention of chocolate! You can find a lot of chocolate recipes online and since most children are familiar with the Internet through their experience at school, they can even help you pick out a few. Or you could make a date of finding chocolate recipes and go browse through your local library or bookstore. Here your little ones can help pick out the chocolate recipe that they really want and everyone can be a part of the whole process- from start to finish! Some of the easiest are chocolate brownie recipes. Chocolate cake recipes are a little more advanced, unless you just use a mix and canned frosting.
Even with the kids and what they make, the ingredients that are used determine the final product. Use gourmet chocolate where appropriate or even some fine European chocolate in lieu of lesser quality chocolate and start cooking.
Here's a great starter for your chocolate recipes, it's simple and once you have melted the chocolate there is no more heat or baking involved:
Cornflake Cakes
All you need is a bar of milk or semi-sweet chocolate and some cornflakes!
- Melt the chocolate using whatever method you prefer.
- Organize some paper muffin cups on a tray or baking sheet.
- Mix only enough cornflakes with the melted chocolate to make the mixture stiff. Be careful that the cornflakes don't get too broken up.
- Place a tablespoon of the mixture into each muffin cup and leave to cool and set.
These can be placed in the fridge to facilitate the cooling process, so that those little hands can sooner get a hold of one!
